Our aim is to address economic and social disadvantage in the Edgbaston by working to remove financial obstacles, which inhibit the achievements of young people in the region.

It is a great example of how communities across a large region have harnessed the energy and resources of local people. It is a great example of how the energy and resources of local people, businesses, corporations and community organisations across a large region have been harnessed to address a key community issue.

SUSTAINING SUPPORTERS PROGRAMME
The Sustaining Supporters Program consists of individuals & businesses who have committed to donate a minimum of £500 per year for a period of 3 years to the Chances for Children Fund. The concept of Sustaining Support was developed as a means of trying to ensure the financial sustainability if the program. Appropriate & ongoing publicity can be provided for those who desire it.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
There is a growing awareness of the benefits that corporate social responsibility can generate for both the staff of an organisation and for its public profile. Corporate partnerships work to build community capacity and enrich the prospects for all who aspire to better communities for themselves, their children and succeeding generations.
We believe that communities should strive to distance themselves from dependence upon government funding as corporate partnerships can help to increase flexibility and innovation in the development of programs that are most appropriate to local community needs.
Best Chances believes in corporate partnership, and has amongst its management team experience of both private business, the public sector and the voluntary sector.
Corporate community partnerships have played an integral role in the history and development of a number of areas within the UK and many of the service that have been provided.

BEQUESTS
By making a gift to Chances for Children in your Will you can help young people in the local area to achieve their potential as well as help build a viable future for our region. Your bequest can make a difference.
Choosing to support Chances through bequest rather than by becoming a Sustaining Supporter or making a donation now, enables you to use your assets during your lifetime. The result of your life’s work is passed on to people and institutions of your choice through your will and for your wishes to be carried out, you will must be legal and up to date. Many people prefer to make a bequest because it gives them the opportunity to make the kind of gift they were unable to make during their lifetime.

Things to Consider
Make your Will in consultation with your solicitor or trustee company as they will ensure that your wishes are expressed clearly and that your intentions will be fulfilled.
You may choose to donate:
  • A specific amount – that may be reviewed at any time by you.
  • Particular Items of Value (gift) – such as property, jewellery, artwork, shares.
  • A percentage of your assets – A nominated percentage of your estate.
  • A Residuary Bequest – After provision is made for you loved ones, you may direct that anything remaining be given to a particular person or organisation.
Below is suggested wording but please check with a qualified solicitor before proceeding.

"I bequeath to Best Chances, an administered fund of the Birmingham Foundation (Charity Number 1048162, The Birmingham Foundation, Suite 2A ,St Georges Court, 1 Albion Street, Birmingham, B1 3AH) for its general purposes [(the whole) or (a specific amount or gift) or (a percentage) or (the residue)] of my estate free of all duties, and I declare that the receipt of its treasures or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge to my executor."

If you have already included Best Chances as part of your will, please let us know so that we have the opportunity to express our thanks to you personally and keep you informed of our work.
If you would like to discuss the idea of a bequest with us please contact us to arrange a confidential appointment or to obtain further information.
