Our aim is to address economic and social disadvantage in the Edgbaston by working to remove financial obstacles, which inhibit the achievements of young people in the region.

It is a great example of how communities across a large region have harnessed the energy and resources of local people. It is a great example of how the energy and resources of local people, businesses, corporations and community organisations across a large region have been harnessed to address a key community issue.

The three main operations within Best Chances are connected: by raising the confidence, aspirations, skills and employability of young people and others within the community they will be more able to develop ambitions and the pathways to achieve them (and thus seek financial and/or practical support to achieve them) and be more equipped to develop their own enterprises within the communities in which they live, and thus reinvest their experiences and talents to the benefit of others. One of the key ways of offering communities socio-economic sustainability and cohesion is to develop more local enterprise and to encourage entrepreneurship. By offering support, peer-coaching, insight and skill development, this area of Best Chances aims to offer communities some of the ingredients that will enable flourishing social enterprises to take root that will serve the social need of the community and benefit the economy through employment and increased disposable income.
