The three main operations within Best Chances are connected: by raising the confidence, aspirations, skills and employability of young people and others within the community they will be more able to develop ambitions and the pathways to achieve them (and thus seek financial and/or practical support to achieve them) and be more equipped to develop their own enterprises within the communities in which they live, and thus reinvest their experiences and talents to the benefit of others.
This area of Best Chances seeks to pro actively develop employability skills and attitudes, aspirations and confidence, self esteem and leadership skills within communities using a particular programme – SLAM! SLAM! is an innovative programme which develops these skills and attitudes in a sustainable and bespoke way, offering communities the capacity to develop peer-coaching which is bespoke, credible and wholly relevant to the needs of the particular community or organisation. Best Chances will work with schools, community groups, multi-agency projects, stakeholders such as the police, youth services, health groups, PCTs and others.
